Effective August 1, 2026, DREAM Compressor has officially updated its custom air end product line, transitioning all models from the DHV to the DEV series. This update introduces a unified model coding system, clear equipment grading, and optimized motor cooling strategies across the entire lineup.

The Logic Behind the Transition

The DHV series supported our customers reliable operations for years. However, as the product line expanded, the model coding logic created unnecessary friction for sales engineers and end users alike. Power ratings, compression stages, and configuration levels were not immediately intuitive, often requiring cross-referencing against specification tables.

The new DEV series solves this structurally. By establishing a unified coding architecture across all 14 models in the lineup, key parameters—including power ratings and configuration tiers—are transparent at a glance. Buyers and technical engineers can now select the appropriate unit without navigating redundant comparison charts.

Air-Cooled vs. Oil-Cooled Motors: Engineering Intent

The DEV series incorporates two distinct motor cooling strategies. Neither approach is universally superior; each is engineering-matched to specific power bands and operating environments.

Air-Cooled Motors (IP23 / IP55)

Air-cooled motors utilize ambient air for heat dissipation. The architecture is straightforward, with fewer auxiliary components, making it a reliable, low-maintenance choice for well-ventilated industrial plants.

  • 7.5–45 kW units utilize IP23 air-cooled motors, balancing lower upfront investment with simple serviceability.
  • 90–132 kW two-stage flagship units deploy IP55 air-cooled motors, providing enhanced dust and moisture protection while maintaining the simplicity of air cooling.

Oil-Cooled Permanent Magnet Motors (IP65)

Oil-cooled systems circulate dielectric oil directly around the motor windings and magnets, creating a significantly shorter thermal path than air-cooled designs. Under sustained heavy load, thermal rise remains strictly controlled.

  • The fully sealed cavity carrying an IP65 protection rating isolates internal motor components entirely from surrounding contaminants. In humid, dusty, or harsh site conditions, this design prevents insulation degradation over time.
  • The DEV series applies oil-cooled motors to 55 kW+ single-stage units and 37–75 kW two-stage models—the power bands where heavy-duty, continuous operation is standard practice.

  • For Existing DHV Owners: This update does not impact current installations. DREAM Compressor continues to supply full OEM spare parts, filtration elements, and technical service support for all legacy DHV series machines.
